1. Export one clean sheet as text
Save the relevant Excel sheet as CSV UTF-8. ListMint accepts comma-separated CSV, tab-separated TSV and semicolon-delimited text, up to 500 KiB, 1,000 data rows and 100 columns. It does not open XLSX workbooks.
Use one header row with a unique name for every column. Remove introductory notes, subtotal rows and extra tables from a copy of the source. Keep your original file. A product title and retail price column are required by ListMint preparation.
2. Decide which price you intend to sell at
Map retail price only after deciding what that column means. A supplier’s cost, wholesale price or recommended retail price may differ from your intended selling price. ListMint does not calculate margins or convert currencies.
Choose dot or comma decimals to match the source. Currency symbols, thousands separators and ambiguous numbers need review before preparation. The preview normalizes accepted prices to two decimal places; it does not choose a price for you.
3. Group variants using a real parent identifier
For products sold in different sizes or colors, map a supplier parent ID that is shared only by variants of the same product. Each variant needs its own option combination. ListMint does not infer groups from similar titles.
In our fictional example, two Cotton duvet cover rows share COT-DUV and differ by size. The cushion row uses LIN-CUSH. With the mapping below, the output contains two draft products and three variant rows. The sample measurements and prices illustrate formatting; they are not a real supplier catalog.
4. Preview before unlocking your export
Sign in, select the file and review every mapping. Preview is free: inspect the first five output rows, product count, errors, warnings and excluded columns. Export is blocked while errors remain. A saved mapping stays on your device and should be checked against each new supplier file.
One $9 USD credit unlocks the exact file, mapping and preparation settings. Re-downloads of that preparation use no extra credit while the purchase remains valid. Changing the file or mapping requires another credit. Basic Shopify CSV cleanup is free in the separate checker.
5. Review the draft import in Shopify
ListMint exports draft, unpublished products for a new-product import. It does not connect to your store or check whether a generated handle already exists. Keep “Overwrite products with matching handles” unchecked, inspect Shopify’s preview and start with a small batch.
Inventory, taxes, shipping, metafields, bundles and existing-product updates are outside this preparation tool. Do not assume that excluded source columns reached the export.
| Supplier column | Choose in ListMint | What to review |
|---|---|---|
| Product name | Product title | The name shared by variants of one product. |
| Item code | SKU | Keep leading zeros; these are identifiers, not quantities. |
| Retail price | Retail price | Your selling price, already in the store’s currency. |
| Brand | Vendor / brand | Use a confirmed brand or supplier name. |
| Parent ID | Parent product ID | Choose this explicitly to group related variants. |
| Size | Size | Use confirmed measurements where needed. |
| Colour | Color | Keep each size/color combination distinct. |
| Description | Description (plain text) | Product facts only; ListMint escapes HTML. |
Try it with the sample.
